Press Release: Jimmy Capps, Director of Communications & Public Affairs
WE WANT TO SERVE YOU!
This time, SEC's serving their members comes through our CEO collaborating, being involved in the community, and using the many resources available to SEC that share the name and philosophy "Cooperative".
Dr. Greene, Vice President of Student Services at New Mexico Tech (NM Tech), presented an opportunity to support the 2025 Summer STEM program at NM Tech to SEC.
This discussion set off a string of events that led to collaboration and support with SEC's Board of Trustees, Tri-State G&T Association (SEC's not-for-profit cooperative power supplier), Basin Electric Power Cooperative (supplies power to Tri-State), CoBank (Rural America's Cooperative Bank), and YOUR Socorro Electric Cooperative, Inc.
By the time the collaboration, community involvement and reaching out to SEC resources was complete, it was Mission Accomplished! The collective contribution of $6,500 permitted ten local High School Students to sign up and complete the STEM program at NM Tech.
